Schwinn 27"/28" Bicycle

This is a clean used example of a vintage Schwinn speedometer drive by Huret, Schwinn part number 08 465, for 27" or 28" front wheels with bolt-on axles (not quick-release hub skewers), a good long-arm example with black dust cap, cleaned, repacked and in good working order. Its drive ratio is 1:2.2. This drive is compatible with the chrome Schwinn Approved Huret speedometers and drive cables (not included; see my other auctions for examples of those), as well as Huret-branded bicycle speedometers. Although these were labeled for Schwinn as 27" hubs, Huret-branded versions of this same part, with the same output ratio, are certified for either 27" or 28" by the factory. (It does not fit the large, round, 3"-diameter Stewart-Warner speedometers.) The two drive arms have a 4¾" (120mm) span, each extending 2 3/8" from the center of the axle hole. I'm also including a new accessory hardware kit, containing: One 5/16" axle bushing (silver) One 3/8" axle bushing  (black) Four installation washers, to be used to clear either the inner face of the front fork or the axle cone nut, as needed One foam dust ring seal The axle hole in the center is 7/16" diameter. This is a vintage used piece in clean condition and full working order. I packed it with some fresh grease, and it turns smoothly. I am also including a free scanned reprint of an original instruction sheet to help you get it all installed. NOTES: This is not for quick-release front hubs. This is only for bicycles with bolt-on front axles. This is not for Stewart-Warner speedometers. This is a Huret speedometer part. This auction is for the drive hub, bushing and washer kit only.
